India in Fashion is a visually stunning costume art exhibition depicting India’s influence on world fashion from the 18th to the 21st century. From sheer muslin to whimsical calico, over 100 unusual costumes and textiles have been sourced from major couture houses, hidden private collections and prestigious museums around the world.
India’s first show of its kind, curated by author and costume expert Hamish Bowles, will showcase renowned international fashion brands such as Jean-Philippe Worth, Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel, Cristóbal Balenciaga, Christian Dior and Yves Saint Laurent. A designer appears. Indian names include Ritu Kumar, Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Manish Malhotra and Tarun Tahiliani.
The exhibit is accompanied by an insightful audio-guided experience. Guests are encouraged to bring their own headphones for a truly immersive experience from their smartphone. Curated by Hamish Bowles and designed by Patrick Kinmonth with Rooshad Shroff.
