An urban Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) with two lines and 28 stops, the Agra Metro is located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. The government is doing everything in its power to get it operational by 2024, but it is still in the development phase as of the time of this blog’s writing in February 2023.
Taj East Gate Metro Station takes shape, and it will be the first metro station of Agra Metro to be completed, as of 24 August. Sep 2021: Construction begins of Agra Metro’s second metro station, Basai Metro Station.
Among the highlights of these passageways are
- The Sikandra to Taj East Gate route is 14,00 kilometres long, is mostly elevated and partially subterranean, and has 13 stops (6-Elevated and 7-Underground).
- The Agra Cantt to Kalindi Vihar corridor is 15.40 kilometres long and has 14 elevated stations.
- At the time when commercial operations start, the Agra Metro Rail Project is estimated to directly and indirectly serve around 20 lakh city residents.
- The planned routes would feature Multimodal Integration with Railway Stations and BRTS Stations, as well as a Bus, Intermediate Public Transport (IPT), and Non-Motorized Transport feeder network (NMT).
- The Project will generate non-fare box income through renting and advertising, as well as Value Capture Financing (VCF) via the Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) and Transfer of Development Rights mechanisms (TDR).
- The Agra Metro is expected to begin service in 2024.
