Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’ sells a staggering $200,000 tickets on PVR inox 4 days before release in India

Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer,” starring Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon and Emily Blunt, is seeing phenomenal pre-orders in India. Reservations for the premium version have been very strong, and even weekday shows are crowded. Demand is so great that tickets are selling like hot cakes despite aggressive dynamic pricing and an ‘A’ movie certification. Christopher Nolan has proven once again that he has one of the largest and most loyal fan bases in the world.
This docudrama has 2 million tickets on PVR and Inox on its opening weekend on Monday the 17th. Of these, more than 80,000 first-day tickets were sold. PVR is leading the way with over 50,000 tickets, but Inox is close behind with 30,000 tickets. Weekend advance ticket sales have already surpassed any Hollywood movie in India this year. The opening price seems likely to be Rs 100 crore, but let me tell you, this is an A-film certified documentary drama. Films like Oppenheimer’s don’t usually have a particularly strong theatrical foundation, but in Nolan’s case you can never be absolutely sure. While the film is expected to be India’s most popular movie this weekend, it is likely to become the second most popular movie globally after Barbie, significantly exceeding industry expectations.
Christopher Nolan Is Set To Get His Biggest Theatrical Opening In India With Oppenheimer
With Oppenheimer, Nolan will make his biggest debut in the Indian market, much earlier than other cult films like The Dark Knight Rises and Dunkirk. Early estimates put the film at over Rs 300 crore in its opening weekend at the box office, but it will be co-released with another movie, ‘Barbie’, which is very appealing to local Indian audiences.
