FIFA reports record ticket sales for the women’s world cup 2023

Melbourne (AP) — According to FIFA, 1.678 million tickets have been sold for the Women’s World Cup through the first 38 games in Australia and New Zealand.
It stated in a statement on Tuesday that the aggregate attendance for all of those games had reached 982,975 and that Tuesday’s last Group E encounter between the United States and Portugal in Auckland, New Zealand’s 50,000-capacity Eden Park stadium would eclipse the 1 million milestone for spectators.
For a Women’s World Cup, the event has already smashed attendance records.
The previous record was set in 2015 in Canada, as 1.35 million people watched a 52-game tournament. There will be 64 matches in the 2023 edition, which has been increased to 32 teams.
For women’s soccer contests in each of the co-host nations, the opening games on July 20 broke records. 42,137 people attended New Zealand’s shocking victory over Norway, breaking the previous record. Later that day, Australia defeated Ireland 1-0 in front of 75,784 spectators at Stadium Australia.
More than 49,000 spectators turned out for the Matildas’ shocking 3-2 loss to Nigeria in Brisbane a week later.
