How the Grinch Stole Christmas to have first live concert in UK
Christmas is just around the corner this year and a live Christmas concert of How the Grinch Stole has been announced. The 2000 film will be the first in the UK to feature the iconic music of two-time Oscar-winning composer James Horner with a live orchestra.
This special holiday event will take place over two nights, first at Symphony Hall in Birmingham on Saturday 9 December and then at Eventim Apollo in London on Sunday 10 December. Tickets for screenings in Birmingham and London are already on sale. Prices start at £33.20 in Birmingham and £30.70 in London. A separate service charge will be applied to the ticket. These live concert performances are growing in popularity, and Disney’s Hocus Pocus will have its own live event this Halloween.
Eventim Apollo in London is also planning to hold a live concert screening of “Twilight” this October to commemorate the film’s 15th anniversary. The live-action Grinch, starring Jim Carrey as a hairy hamster, is still a Christmas staple and even won an Oscar for Best Makeup after its premiere.
A live-action adaptation of the legendary doctor. In Seuss’ story, the Grinch descends from Mount Crumpit’s cave to take revenge on the people of Whoville for cheering for Christmas. But the Grinch is overwhelmed by the kindness of one person in particular, Cindy Lou Who (later Gossip Girl star Taylor Momsen), who finally warms her heart at the best time of the year. The classic film also stars Mamma Mia actress Christine Baranski, Star Trek: Discovery actor Bill Irwin, and White Lotus star Molly Shannon as Whoville residents. Ron Howard directed the film.
When and where in the UK can you see The Grinch live in concert?
The Grinch’s first UK tour is as short and sweet as Cindy Lou Who’s, with only two dates: London and Birmingham. The film will take place in early December and will feature Home Alone Live in Concert, Love Indie Live in Concert, The Holiday Live in Concert and The Muppets Christmas Carol Live.・Compete with other live concerts held this year, such as in-concerts.
