IND vs PAK: After a long delay, it was announced two weeks ago that tickets for the ODI World Cup 2023 will go on sale this week. The ICC released the full schedule of events a month ago on June 27th. However, BCCI has postponed ticket sales again after confirming tickets will be available online this week. The delay in ticket sales stems from the alleged postponement of the India-Pakistan match at Narendra Modi Stadium on 15 October.

A senior BCCI official said security officials had recommended to the board not to hold a highly important clash on that day.

A BCCI official told Indian Express, “We are evaluating our options and a decision will be made soon.”

The reason the ticket sales for the 2023 World Cup have been postponed/delayed is that Navratri will open on October 15th. So, due to clashes between India and Pakistan and people celebrating the festival in Ahmedabad, managing so many people at the same time is not an easy task and could even endanger the safety of players and fans.

On Tuesday 25 July, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah sent a letter to the national authorities hosting the 2023 World Cup matches, inviting them to a meeting to be held in New Delhi on 27 July. This cannot be confirmed, but he will be releasing a revised schedule and ticket sales information for the IND vs. PAK match after the meeting.

After the ICC announced the schedule, fans bought air and hotel tickets for the clash in India. However, many fans are frustrated by delays in ticket sales, and upset by rumors of a postponement of the IND-PAK match, fearing the same could happen for other matches at the 2023 World Cup. Some fans do.
