Tamil Nadu: Diwali train tickets to southern cities sold out in 30 minutes

CHENNAI: Although the Diwali season is still months away, reservations for train tickets began briskly on Wednesday morning, with all tickets reportedly sold out within just five minutes of the 8am opening.

Sleeper tickets for trains from Chennai to Madurai, Tirunelveli and various other destinations were reportedly sold out just minutes after train ticket reservations opened on 9 November. Those who are unable to book tickets for their Diwali trip are requesting additional/extra trains.

This year Diwali is celebrated on 12th November. In conjunction with the Diwali festival, reservations for train tickets for 9 November have started today at 8:00 am. It was announced that tickets can be booked at physical counters at stations and via the IRCTC app.
