About
Experience a dreamy, boppy fusion of Hindustani classical and World music led by the tranquil vocals of Isheeta and the versatile guitar work of Sanjay Divecha, as the duo jams along with a milieu of talented musicians, each with their own authentic sound. Showcasing the original compositions of the talented ensemble, the multi-genre melodic journey brings together the soulful piano of Niranjan Joshi, the evocative sarod of Pratik Shrivastava, expressive violin by Nastya Saraswati, the rich bass of Mousumi Dutta, and a dynamic play of rhythm by Ishan Jadwani on drums. With this not-your-run-of-the-mill mix, the concert doubles as an immersive cultural experience that seeks to transcend boundaries. Chakrvarty is an Indian contemporary singer-songwriter, composer, educator, recording and voiceover artist with strong roots in Hindustani Classical music. Emerging from the success of innovative collaborations with the likes of Vishal-Shekhar, Louiz & Gino Banks, Viveick Rajagopalan, Donn Bhat, Anyasa, Anand Bhaskar, Keshav Dhar and others, the expressionist explorer traverses newer sonic spaces at the intersections of jazz, pop, electronica, and Classical music. She has recorded for Bollywood movies and performed at prestigious stages across the world like the Java Jazz Festival (Indonesia), Cervantino Festival (Mexico), La Merce (Spain), Star of Asia (Kazakhstan) and more. As one of the most celebrated guitarists in India, Divecha has a unique and compelling musical presence as an instrumentalist and a composer. Through a luminous 35-year long career, Sanjay has worked with visionaries and doyens such as Angelique Kidjo, Carlos Santana, Dave Weckl, Louis Johnson, Dumazz and Sambaguru, among others. He is a part of the hugely successful supergroup called CROSSCURRENTS, led by Zakir Hussain and featuring stalwarts such as Dave Holland, Chris Potter, Shankar Mahadevan, Louiz Banks and Gino Banks. Isheeta Chakrvarty is an Indian jazz vocalist who blends genres like jazz, Hindustani classical music, and contemporary sounds. She is known for her versatile voice and her innovative musical collaborations. The Isheeta Chakrvarty Collective is a project that highlights this fusion of styles, focusing on bringing together Indian classical music with Western jazz traditions. The Collective features a rotating group of talented musicians who contribute to the distinctive sound of her performances.
