Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), led by KL Rahul, stormed past Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 48th league match of the ongoing IPL cricket series, held in Lucknow yesterday. The Lucknow team, after winning the toss, elected to bowl first. Mumbai Indians, batting first, managed to score 144 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Nehal Wadhera top-scored for Mumbai Indians with 46 runs, while Tim David contributed 35 runs to the team’s total. Mohsin Khan was the pick of the bowlers for Lucknow, taking 2 crucial wickets.

In response, Lucknow Super Giants chased down the target of 145 runs with 4 wickets in hand and 4 balls to spare. Marcus Stoinis was the top performer for Lucknow, scoring a valuable 62 runs, while captain KL Rahul contributed 28 runs.

After the match, KL Rahul, the captain of Lucknow Super Giants, credited his team’s bowlers for restricting Mumbai Indians to a modest total. He said, “The bowlers of our team made good use of the pitch and stopped the Mumbai team from scoring big runs. Also in batting, we had experienced players in our team and the competition was in our favor. If they had scored between 165 and 170 runs, it would have been a tough match. However, our team’s bowlers bowled very well and put pressure on the opposition and got us this victory. These two points come at a crucial time for the series. This win has also given us a lot of confidence.”

Rahul also expressed concern for Mayank Yadav, who had to leave the field midway due to sudden pain. “Mayank Yadav had to leave midway due to sudden pain. His bowling is essential for us so we have a lot of care for him,” Rahul said, reassuring fans that Yadav would recover soon.

With this win, Lucknow Super Giants have gained two crucial points in the IPL standings and have bolstered their confidence ahead of upcoming matches.
