Chennai, March 22, 2024: In a spectacular start to the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) clinched a thrilling victory over the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday.

Chasing a challenging target of 174 runs for victory, CSK’s batters displayed remarkable resilience, with every member of the team making valuable contributions. Leading the charge was Rachin Ravindra, whose blistering knock of 37 runs off just 15 balls set the tone for the chase. Earlier in the match, RCB posted a competitive total of 173/5 in their allotted 20 overs. The Bengaluru outfit found themselves struggling at 78/5 in the 11.4 overs, courtesy of Mustafizur Rahman’s exceptional bowling performance, claiming two wickets in each of his first two overs. However, Anuj Rawat and Dinesh Karthik orchestrated a remarkable recovery, stitching an unbeaten partnership of 95 runs off just 50 balls to propel RCB to a respectable total.

Meanwhile, all eyes were on MS Dhoni, whose inclusion in the playing 11 was under speculation. Dhoni, the seasoned campaigner, showcased his prowess as a wicket-keeper batter for CSK, contributing significantly to his team’s victory.
